In the future, I intend to be a deep learner in all aspects of my life, with time provided. In high school, I was really just looking for the grade. I would memorize
vocabulary words and equations not because I truly wanted to know them, but because I had to. Biology, Algebra, Chemistry, all the subjects I was not in love with
took a backseat in my education. I would study 10 minutes before the test, hoping to memorize as much as I could. Little did I know that this was not the point of
education. I loved learning new and interesting things, but the actual idea of school bored me. It was all a game, see how much you can memorize, but not actually
retain the knowledge. Thankfully, I believe in college, it is a little easier to become a deep learner, due to the fact that we can study what we want here. Our major
defines what we truly wish to study, so we take more of the classes we find useful and actually interesting. When they say "You only live once" or "You have no little
hours in a day," I kind of believe it now. There are so many subjects I want to learn about, cultures and places I wish to experience and understand. I don't believe in
wasting anymore time on something that won't be beneficial in my life in years to come. I plan on staying curious throughout college, mainly because I have no idea
what I'm going to do with my life at this stage in my career. I believe it is narrow minded and foolish to waste an education, something that not everyone can afford to
have. I am lucky enough that I was raised in a family and community that endorsed intelligence, and took pride in school. But now, it is not the school that is number
one on my list of priorities, it's my knowledge. I would rather be a deep or growing learner, as opposed to a shallow learner, because it is much more beneficial to my
